FAQ & Glossary

Frequently asked questions about generation, costs, workflows, and terminology.

Answers to common questions regarding video generation, credit costs, continuity, and technical terms.

1. Production and Video Editing

Do I need prior video editing experience?

No prior editing experience is required to produce finished clips, subtitles, and transitions. The tool conducts you across the 5 structured phases. To concatenate the scene clips into a single master video file, simply import the included EDL into any video editor.

Do I need to appear on camera or own recording gear?

No. The entire video is synthesized from text prompts and still reference images.

Do I need a structured script ready before starting?

No. The ENTER STORY tab uses Gemini 2.0 Flash to convert raw text, articles, or classroom notes (up to 30,000 characters) into structured scenes. If you already have a formatted script, paste it directly into the editor.

Can I produce both vertical and horizontal videos?

Yes. The tool supports 16:9 widescreen and 9:16 vertical aspect ratios. Note that switching formats flags existing generated media as outdated so you can re-render frames matching the new dimensions.

2. Voice, Imagery, and AI Consistency

Will characters maintain the exact same face across all scenes?

Canonical 1:1 character sheets and attached visual reference photos strongly anchor likeness across scenes. While consistency is significantly improved, generative AI models may exhibit subtle variations in lighting, hair, or angle.

Can I record or import my own custom voice?

The tool does not import external audio files. However, you can select the SFX Only or Mute audio track mode in Phase 4 and overlay your external studio recording in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere.

Can I upload my own images and company assets?

Yes. You can upload custom portraits for characters and register company logos, graphic badges, or key props as scene assets (PNG, JPEG, WebP).

3. Storage, Costs, and Troubleshooting

How much does it cost to generate videos?

The tool itself does not charge recurring usage or per-video fees. Media generation consumes standard Google Flow workspace credits based on your chosen model and resolution. The Economic profile operates at the lowest credit footprint.

What happens if a generation fails or times out?

The card displays an explicit error message received from Google Flow. Use RESUME to re-request only failing scenes, or enable automated retries in Settings for transient network or rate-limit errors.

Will I lose my project if I refresh or close my browser?

Project data is saved automatically to browser IndexedDB storage where supported. For complete safety, use EXPORT JSON to download a portable backup file, and use RECONNECT MEDIA to re-link media files stored in your Flow library upon import.

4. Technical Terms Glossary

A quick guide to standard terminology used throughout the tool and documentation:

TermOperational Meaning
Google FlowThe host platform and provider of generative AI models (Nano Banana, Omni, Veo 3.1).
Flow ToolA web application running inside Google Flow's Tool Creator sandbox.
Scene BlockAn 8-second script segment that corresponds to one storyboard frame and one video clip.
FACT ModeDocumentary B-roll scene without visible character faces; lip-sync is disabled.
NARRATIVE ModeCharacter-driven A-roll scene requiring canonical sheets and natural lip-sync.
Canonical SheetA stable 1:1 portrait defining a character's physical likeness and clothing.
Storyboard FrameA framing-accurate image that serves as the mandatory initial frame of a scene video.
Asset KeyA registered prop, logo, or graphic assigned as a visual reference in scenes.
Framing PositionSubject placement in the frame according to cinematic composition rules.
Speech PacingWord count brackets (Standard, Moderate, Fast) governing scene dialogue timing.
Pre-Flight CheckAutomated rule validation performed before dispatching video generation batches.
Outdated MediaMedia generated under previous script, pacing, or framing settings preserved to protect credits.
Match-Cut BridgeAn AI-generated transition clip linking the camera movement of two adjacent scenes.
Optical TransitionA zero-credit client-side edge transition (Continuous Stitch, Soft Edges, Fade, Push-In).
CMX 3600 EDLIndustry-standard Edit Decision List file for importing timeline cuts into NLE suites.
PAUSE QUEUECommand that stops dispatching new generation tasks while allowing active jobs to finish.
