Phase 3 — Storyboard

Keyframe generation, aspect ratios, visual framing, and reference priority.

Phase 3 produces one approved, framing-accurate still image per scene before initiating video render. Each storyboard image becomes the mandatory first frame of that scene's video clip, guaranteeing continuity.

1. Top Controls and Formatting

The top bar configures visual format and batch generation:

ControlFunction
Image ModelSelect Nano Banana 2 Lite, Nano Banana 2.1, or Nano Banana Pro for keyframe generation.
Aspect RatioChoose 16:9 widescreen or 9:16 vertical (switching flags all existing media as outdated).
Default FramingFallback subject placement for scenes without an explicit script framing tag.
GENERATE STORYBOARDSSequentially generates frames for all pending scenes.
RESUMEReruns only scenes that are pending or returned an error.
Advance to VideosUnlocks once every scene has an approved storyboard keyframe.

2. Scene Cards and Custom Prompt Overrides

Each scene card provides interactive controls and visual diagnostics:

  • Keyframe Preview: Shows the rendered image, aspect ratio badge, scene duration, and action summary.
  • Scene Status Badges: Displays indicators for style mode (FACT/NARRATIVE), framing placement, active assets, and outdated status.
  • EDIT PROMPT: Switch from AUTO to CUSTOM mode to fine-tune the exact image generation prompt for a specific scene.
  • REGENERATE STORYBOARD: Re-render individual scene frames until the composition matches your creative vision.

3. Composition Priority and Visual References

When assembling the prompt and image references for a scene frame, the engine incorporates up to 10 visual references in strict order:

  • Character Identity Anchors: Canonical 1:1 portraits for characters appearing in that scene (applied in NARRATIVE scenes).
  • Scene Assets & Props: Reference graphics and product images assigned to the scene.
  • Environmental Continuity: Reuses an approved keyframe from an earlier scene sharing the exact same LOCAL tag to maintain background coherence.
  • Clean Frame Enforcement: Prompt directives actively prohibit watermarks, captions, split-screen layouts, and render artifacts.

4. Batch Generation and Queue Controls

Storyboard generation proceeds through an intelligent queuing system:

  • PAUSE QUEUE: Temporarily halts dispatching new generations, allowing active Flow tasks to complete.
  • Retry Mechanism: Automatically retries transient network or rate-limit errors when configured in Settings.
